Van Buuren Museum & Gardens

A Gem of Art Deco Heritage

Discover the Van Buuren Museum & Gardens, a remarkable gem of Art Deco architecture built in 1928 in the heart of Brussels. This exceptional house-museum offers a captivating journey through art, history, and nature, perfectly embodying the spirit of the interwar period in Belgium and Europe.

An Exceptional Art Collection

Step inside this meticulously preserved Art Deco villa to discover an extraordinary collection of masterpieces spanning five centuries. From 15th to 20th-century works, the museum houses paintings by Belgian and international masters, rare furniture, signed rugs, exquisite stained glass, and sculptures. Each room reveals the refined taste and passion of the van Buurens, who collaborated with renowned decorators to create this unique ensemble where Amsterdam School architecture harmoniously blends with Art Deco interiors.

Historic Gardens: A Living Work of Art

Covering 1.2 hectares, the Van Buuren Gardens are a harmonious masterpiece of landscape art, passionately designed by Jules Buyssens and enriched by Alice van Buuren with the verdant visions of René Pechère. Six distinct spaces—from the Picturesque Garden to the enchanting Labyrinth and the Heart Garden—offer a unique immersion into a perfect symbiosis of picturesque elements and Art Deco design.

Classified as a heritage site since 1997 and honored with the prestigious Europa Nostra Award, these gardens are recognized as historic gardens by the Council of Europe. They stand as a prominent testament to the Nouveau Jardin Pittoresque movement and can be enjoyed year-round.
